Dental sedation is a way of making anxious patients feel more relaxed about receiving dental care.

dental sedation dentist

It involves giving you a sedative medicine through a vein in your arm or hand. Dental sedation makes you feel deeply relaxed. You will be able to talk and cooperate with your dental team, but most people cannot remember much about their treatment.

Londent is proud to offer treatment under Conscious Sedation. Our qualified sedation dentist, Dr Sian Li, works with even the most phobic patients to treat their dental needs in an efficient and calming environment.

If you’ve been contemplating dental care due to anxiety, we can incorporate Dental Sedation into your personalised treatment plan.

Tailored Sedation Techniques

For those seeking a heightened level of relaxation, our practice specializes in advanced sedation techniques.

Treatment Options:

  1. Local Anaesthesia (Numbing injection into the gum)
  2. Intravenous Sedation (Sedative administered through a vein)
  3. Intranasal Conscious Sedation (Concentrated sedative squirted up the nose)
  4. Oral Sedation (Sedative taken as a drink)

In considering the risks associated with intravenous, intranasal, and oral sedation at Londent, there is a potential for slowed breathing, meticulously addressed through vigilant monitoring and immediate access to oxygen if required. While some bruising may occur after injection, it typically resolves within a few days. Although an allergic reaction to the sedation drug is an extremely rare risk, thorough disclosure of medical history, including medication, snoring patterns, and past sedation experiences, is crucial.

Local anaesthetic or general anaesthetic serve as alternatives. The former involves a pain-free but fully conscious experience and the latter inducing temporary unconsciousness, typically reserved for those unable to cooperate due to disabilities or extensive dental work.

The process emphasizes patient involvement, requiring a signed consent form to affirm understanding and agreement with the chosen treatment.

We tailor our approach to suit your comfort level and the nature of the procedure. Your safety and peace of mind are our top priorities and as such please don’t hesitate to contact us to find out more about this service.

I can say hand on heart, That fear is now gone and I actually look forward to my appointments!...

This is an excellent dental practice that I've been recommending to my coworkers for awhile. The staff is friendly and professional. The sisters who run the practice are thorough not just with the examinations and cleaning, but also make sure to give me personalized and practical advice for at-home care. They make it as pleasant as a trip to the...

I enquired about a chipped tooth issue and was seen within 24 hours of making the enquiry. Treatment options were clearly explained and discussed, in what is a very professional setting just off Shad Thames. I appreciate the fact that costs were also discussed before making the appointment, which meant that there were no surprises on the day. Overall, very...

After years of not going to the dentist, I was dreading my visit. Very welcoming practice. Dr Li kept me informed of my treatment plan and explained clearly what was needed and why. Very reassuring and professional. I've never had to wait for my appointments as well, which is very appreciated on a tight schedule.

I visited Londent and had an initial consultation with Dr Panayiotis Kaimakamis (Periodontist). What an absolute dream he was from start to finish. I was quite anxious regarding some rather complex periodontal surgery I needed ASAP and his customer care, subject matter expertise and surgical skills in my humble opinion remain unmatched. I recommend both this clinic and Dr Pano...
